the vast majority of anti mass incarceration reforms have only effected men. meanwhile the number of incarcerated women is still skyrocketing

Black women aren’t allowed to be abuse survivors. especially since everyone views us as aggressive, “masculine,” and indestructible. criminalized survivors are the NORM. like very very VERY common

so if people are gonna say things like that, i think we should at least talk about the risks. Black women are in a lose-lose situation. risk being killed by abusive partners or spending decades of our life in prison for trying to defend ourselves
