Get your pitches ready for Harlequin's #SuspenseIncludesYou event! On Wednesday, September 23 from 8am ET to 6pm ET, the three suspense series at Harlequin are looking for pitches from marginalized voices that are underrepresented in our programs and throughout publishing.
To send us your pitches on 9/23, use the #SuspenseIncludesYou hashtag and add a hashtag for #HarlequinIntrigue, #HarlequinRomanticSuspense or #LoveInspiredSuspense to let us know which Harlequin suspense series you are targeting.
If one of our editors❤️your pitch on 9/23, please send your first chapter and story synopsis to the suspense series you are targeting at http://Harlequin.Submittable.com .
Important: include “Suspense Includes You” in the subject line. All submissions receive a response within 60 days.
If we love your #SuspenseIncludesYou submission, we’ll invite you to submit a full manuscript for consideration for one of our suspenseful romance lines. You’ll find the writing guidelines and word counts for Harlequin’s suspense series here: http://Harlequin.Submittable.com .
Helpful hints:
• Make sure your submission is long enough. One chapter should be about 3K-5K words.
• Don't forget the conflict. What's keeping your characters from falling in love too quickly? What's the danger/suspense element?
• Give your villains strong motivations!
As always, my Twitter DMs are open for AOC and other marginalized writers to reach out with questions.
And please remember that the #SuspenseIncludesYou event is specifically looking for underrepresented voices who love to write romantic suspense and inspirational romantic suspense. We welcome submissions from all authors at any time via Submittable.
