Group of temples at Palampet, Mulugu

There are three temples located on the banks of Ramappa lake, built during the reign of Kakatiyas in 13th century CE.

One of the temple, the larger among the three is dedicated to Shiva, completely ruined and covered with debris.

Now sunk into the ground and architectural fragments lying all over the place, the temple was a Trikutalayam with three shrines having a common Mandapam, the space between the shrines bordered with Kakasasana.

To the left of this temple, there are two smaller temples facing east, currently in dilapidated state and no murti inside.

Both of temples have a simple plan with a Garbhagriham preceded by a small chamber(MukhaMandapam) with ornate doorframes.

One of these is probably dedicated to Krishna. The uttaranga is carved with Venugopala amidst herd of cows.

The main doorframe is beautifully adorned with jali windows, pillar motifs, GajaLakshmi on lalata and a canopy. The dvara of the Garbhagriham is also equally ornate.

The third one, located in between the two temples, is the smallest of all.

The dvara of the temple is carved similar to that of the adjacent temple except for the miniature superstructure models of shikara over the canopy of the door frame.
