We are aware of students' complaints about the meals they have received in quarantine. The complaints are valid. This large-scale delivery of meals to student rooms is a never-before-tried operation for us and our food vendor, Chartwells. (1/3)
There are over 2,600 students quarantining in our residence halls, and every day they are supposed to get three decent meals. Nearly 20% of the meals are specialized—kosher, vegan, halal, etc. (2/3)
It is vital to get it right, and we are disappointed in Chartwells's management of the quarantine meals process. Read the full statement from NYU spokesperson John Beckman, including the steps we and Chartwells are taking to address the situation promptly: https://www.nyu.edu/about/news-publications/news/2020/august/JB_Statement_Quarantine_Meals.html
By way of apology for these initial problems, we're providing each student quarantining in @NYUHousing with a $100 e-card to order delivered food.
