why shipping l’arry is NOT fetishizing mlm, and how saying that actually perpetuates homophobia and toxic masculinity
a thread

first I’d like to start off with the point that fake woke people often bring up. how thinking they are together based on them being affectionate or “touchy” is playing into stereotypes and that men can’t be close. but that’s not why people think larry is real.
there are countless pieces of actual evidence including things like how DOZENS if not hundreds of hollywood and other celebrities have been closeted with fake relationships and all, that have since come forward.
there is way too much evidence to put here, that of which has absolutely nothing to do with how they acted in public. The cute moments are meant to reminisce and fond over-not be used as evidence. it’s like watching a romance movie or something.
now, getting into the term “fetishizing” Dictionary definitions are often not the best tool for things like this but we can start with it. There are two defs for fetishizing: “have an excessive and irrational commitment to or obsession with” & “make the object of a sexual fetish”
We can throw away the first definition, since every stan in the world could be called a fetishizer for having an obsession with their fav. So next is making l’arry (an mlm) into a fetish.
The definition of fetish requires sexual gratification from whatever the fetish is. Nobody is getting off on the fact that they are in a relationship. And aside from the dictionary definition, fetishes are normally something out of the ordinary. some might call them weird.
So saying that shipping two men is fetishizing is actually extremely hurtful to LGBTQ+ people (including myself) because that’s saying that their relationship is noteworthy and unusual. Straight ships (and even wlw) ships have NEVER been called a fetish.
people were OBSESSED with shipping T0m Holl@nd and Zend@ya. never called a fetish. if the problem is that louis has said he’s straight, T@ylor SwIft and K@rlie KIoss are still to this day thought of as a past or current couple, even though T@ylor has said she’s straight.
never called a fetish. again, T@ylor and D’ianna Agr0n. Never. Called. A. Fetish. AND diann@ recently separated from her husband. people speculated relentlessly that it was because of Taylor. not once did they get the level of hatred that larries get.
The problem is that being a man attracted to men is seen as degrading and damaging to their masculinity. Continually saying that someone is fetishizing them by thinking they were/are together is maintaining the status quo that being a queer man is atypical and demeaning.
