Denying Jesus doesn’t always look so blatant the way it did with Peter. Sometimes it’s something as little as being uncharitable instead of showing love. Sometimes it’s the sin of omission, ignoring a situation that needs your help.
Sometimes it’s sitting idly by and letting people run over your beliefs, or in many cases seen today, rewrite your beliefs. Catholics have a duty to stand up for what they believe.
Don’t call yourself a practicing Catholic if you’re not living it out daily - and that means defending Her. Sometimes it’s easier to let it happen. After all, it’s so common these days. But you must always be ready to defend.
If you don’t, you deny His Church; you deny Him. Do not underestimate how damaging it is for yourself and your Church when you do not stand to protect such precious treasures. He will give you the strength to protect what is worth protecting.
What is sincerely lacking in the Church today is courage. We have strong belief, we have tradition coming in a strong wave, we have passion - but do we have courage? That is the glue that holds Christ’s Church together. Without it, we fall apart.
Without it, we start to see the Catholic name become bastardized; a mere shell of itself; weakened until all that is left is what those in society claim its definition to be. So much so that some Catholic schools, parishes, communities, and so forth do not teach Catholicism.
They teach heresy. Bit by bit that heresy becomes culturally accepted as the “true” Church. God has given us this Home. It is ours. Ours to love and protect. Stop lurking in the shadows. Do not let those in society turn Jesus’ Church into a den of thieves. She is worth defending.
