Since tons of Funimation-adjacent voice actors are posting their management mandated anti-piracy posts I'd like to throw my two cents in.
I did the subtitling for YuGiOh Dark Side of Dimensions.
The english script and japanese script are entirely different, rewritten.

You can read the jp-to-english subtitles on the above video, and listen to the studio provided audio. Not even the same. Joey's monologue about friendship gets cut for a hot dog joke.
This is one example of english studios editing scripts, there's many, many more.
The japanese studios produce the anime.
The american studios are only supposed to translate, voice, and distribute the product, but over and over they take it upon themselves to edit the product, or insert references to irl internet drama,
or use their licensing rights to abuse DMCA and ensure nobody can legally view certain japanese anime series in the USA.

The american anime industry has gone way outside of scope of what it's supposed to do, and has instead become a woke gatekeeper.
To these people in the anime industry playing gatekeeper:
If the fans like you enough to pirate shows you're in, chasing them away from your work probably isn't a smart move. Most of you don't get streaming royalties or residuals anyway.
And on Funi and Crunchyroll's side of things, as well as VRV, almost three dozen japanese studios have signed with Youtube via Anilog to post their entire catalog there. For free.

LEGALLY.

Your major income is from DVD sales in several cases but mostly convention appearances,
and the number one way to ensure your table line is short is to piss off your fans. It doesn't make sense to complain about fans watching your work, when you don't get paid no matter which way they watch it.

If you want to shill for a streaming service just do it.
To the fans:
follow @/AnimeLogTokyo for when their channel goes live.
If you want to support the VAs, buy their swag at cons, or their DVDs via amazon.
Streaming via pirate sites just opens you to viruses, and the quality is absolute garbage.

Good series deserves good quality.
and please, always support accuracy in anime.

Peace out
