my contract status is up in there air so there’s a very real chance i will be out of a job aug 28– so here’s a thread of my qualifications for marketing and the film industry. Please share! My future boss is out there!
I have a bachelor’s in screenwriting with professional experience on set (PA, driving talent, hiring crew, etc) and in production. I am excellent at writing script coverage and am a ruthless script doctor. You think your story can’t be improved? Trust me: it can; and I’ll do it
I have a master’s certification in Marketing Communications. Why certificate and not diploma? Why, that’s because I learned more through professional experience than in lectures so I opted out of the classroom to take over my boss’s position when he left for the BBC.
At BuzzMyVideos I began as an intern, then full time social media manager, then platform director of Nerdically. This was an outlet based around reviews and hype for “nerd culture.” I reshaped it to be more interactive and informative to our audience and increased (next tweet)
our follower count as well as boosted the interaction with absurdly little paid promotion. Within months I rose through the ranks and restructured a brand persona into something that, while I ran it, got noticeable traffic from fans as well as industry creatives.
Right now I work remotely and have gained considerable experience working with high security protocols. I’m now very comfortable using VMware and am an actual whiz at learning new programs— I’m a co-author for my company’s manual for using ADR Master, which we just switched to.
Of course there’s more to me! I’ve used my marcomms experience and my background as a visual artist to promote a show at the Hollywood fringe, I am a comedian and screenwriter with a focus in horror (despite being squeamish— I contain hidden depths).
I follow the trades closely and keep myself informed on how the entertainment industry is both growing and stagnating under the pandemic. I work hard to stay abreast of programming and the trends in production. Not to brag but I saw pivoting to animation coming from a mile away.
As for me, Caylin the person: I do not allow myself or others to fail. I’ve been raised, educated, and trained to hope for the best and expect the worst which means I constantly prepare to face or curtail any outcome. I’m also very considerate and a total sweetheart!
Also Ive been cultivating connections with indie creatives. I have a wash of resources for fresh talent in comedy (performance and lit) film prod., art and animation as a few examples. Meaning, I can pull together a crack team of reliable talent! Something to think about :)
