A related concept for me as an Asian woman is yellow fever. Does it exist? Definitely. Have I seen it? Sure.
But back when I was "on the market", would I assume that every single white guy who seemed interested in me had yellow fever? No.

Part of it is my ego, I see myself as endlessly fascinating
But more importantly, there was no need to assume so, it would colour my perception & distort every single interaction. It would be exhausting.
So why would I?

Then why do some people of colour make every single interaction with white people a battle, so to speak? Why do they assume every white person to be (casually) racist, privileged, ignorant, insensitive, & condescending?
