The narrative that "Army aren't the problem, fandoms are" is a heaping load of bullshit and chips.
Most fans don't acknowledge that other artists are BETTER than their faves; Army refuse to acknowledge that other artists have a right to EXIST.
Crucial difference.
Super Junior were called "Hallyu Kings" and HUGELY expanded kpop's reach in China and SE Asia.
I've never seen an ELF dismiss other groups as "only popular in Korea".

Army, on the other hand...
KARA & SoShi had dome tours in Japan, appeared on Kohaku Uta Gassen, and paved the way for the Japanese success of groups like Twice.
I've never seen Kamellias or SONEs brag about not knowing BoA, let alone stating she's insignificant.

Army, OTOH...
SHINee re-defined what idol groups were perceived as capable of, with choreographies making a huge leap with Sherlock, and 종현 fighting tooth & nail to be able to express himself.
I've never seen Shawols say that no other groups had talented dancers & songwriters.

Army, OTOH...
Bigbang broke every record in the book and set some that still stand to this day.
I've yet to see a VIP say that GD's boys are the "only relevant Korean artists ever".

Army, on the other hand...
Apink came from a small company, yet have managed to be one of Korea's most respected and successful girlgroups for 9 years and running.
And yet, I've never seen Pandas engage in silly mythmaking about how theirs was the only such story.

Army, on the other hand...
Blackpink break records every (rare) time they release anything, and did for kpop girlgroups in the West what BTS did for boys.
I've never met Blinks who whitesplained Korean history to me, or claimed their faves were literal Korean royalty.

Army, on the other hand...
And so on.

So no, the problem isn't "fandoms"; the problem is a company poisoning the well by actively going after (white) US audiences, who cannot conceive of or deal with other cultures, and those audiences being a plague of locusts on kpop fandom itself.
