I think the reason so many parties are hanging on to the one drop rule for dear life, is because if we stopped referring to mixed women as Black, everyone will be forced to reckon with the sheer intensity of the mistreatment Black Women are subjected to in society.
They've been hiding behind that "80% of Black Men are married to BW" statistic for so long.. not mentioning that only 30% of BM marry.. and Black Love is literally based on colorism.

If we finally allowed mixed women to be mixed, noone would be able to gaslight BW anymore.
We'd have to admit that mixed women are used as a buffer - to appease BW by making us think the opportunities they get is somehow trickling down to us.
If we rejected the one drop rule, we'd see how little representation we have, in music, movies, health/wealth disparities etc.
So now I see it for what it is. It's in Black Women's interest to uphold the one drop rule, because it helps them cope. It's in Black Men's interest because it gives them sexual access to mixed women under the guise of Black Love and it's in mixed women's interest to keep taking.
When I see Black Women making these "First Black Women to accomplish XYX" tweets, I know you're just trying to cope. Living vicariously through them is your quick fix.

And white people are in on it too bc they'd rather give opportunities to those who have proximity to whiteness.
