Somebody questioned whether it’s hyperbolic to dub Trump’s attempt to rig the election a “coup.” It is not. If he succeeds, America will topple into full authoritarianism, and the rest of the world will suffer terribly. If that happens, it won’t be a bloodless coup either.

It doesn’t matter that he’s already in the White House. He is still operating under some limited constraints, which he is rapidly shaking off. This is a coup against the US Constitution. In a republic, the people are in charge. Trump aims to change that.
