i think i may have said this, but it's wild to me how little cultural imperialism comes up in conversations around sport. in fact, besides the odd mention I racism, sport is the one thing leftists on here consume uncritically
even articles touching on why people in the global south, for example, are enamored with european football will mention globalisation mostly, and frame the whole thing as a positive. they see it as a testament to football's ability to unite as opposed to cultural imperialism
a leftists who accused black is king of being imperialistic might also say they watch european football over local football because the quality is better and the players more talented. this may be true, but it's insane how they don't see the imperialistic connotations
leftists become liberals when the NBA season is in session
it's wild how something like the transfer window doesn't enrage leftists, and people generally, more. seeing those obscene amounts of money being paid for people should actually be grounds for the revolution
