Dear creators and coaches, these are some defence mechanisms you are guilty of.

A thread 🧵
Defence mechanisms are the thoughts or behavioral patterns you use in order to avoid whatever causes you a lot of fear or anxiety.

They usually come as explanations you give yourself for not taking action. Here are a few of them:
1) Procrastination: This is not just a bad habit that everyone seems to be struggling with. It is actually a symptom of fear and it shows up as you putting off activities that cause you fear and anxiety. So, if you notice that you keep putting off an activity, you're probably...
...scared of the outcome of that activity.

2) Logic: If you're a nerd or a critical thinker, this is more likely to affect you. It is when you take an emotional problem and try to solve it logically. Like when you say you're not creating content because you're waiting to...
...afford the tools you need. This might make sense on the surface and you may even feel like you're making progress or gaining clarity but at the end of the day, it's still a mask for your fears.
3) Blame/Anger: When confronted with something that makes you afraid or uncomfortable, you either get angry or blame people. You blame your family members for not supporting you, you blame the government for internet tariffs, you blame Instagram and its algorithms.
All these are valid o, but are they enough reason not to start?

4) Apathy: This is probably the most dangerous one because you deceive yourself into believing that you don't care about what makes you afraid and so there's no point doing it.
That's why you'd rather say things like "I don't have time to be wasting on social media when there is real life.", instead of admitting that you want to be a creator so bad but you're scared you won't succeed.
Understand that when defence mechanisms are used long enough, they become permanent beliefs and the longer you hold a belief, the harder it is to question or remove it.

So tell me, what "explanations" are you giving yourself for not taking action?
