My name is Dave and I have a text editor problem. I use 6 text editors on an almost daily basis, and each one has a very specific place in my life and set of tasks I use it for. I love them all (except maybe vim, which I think fondly of more than love)

iA Writer - For anything that isn't code and that isn't going to live for more than 24h. If I’m posting something longer than a paragraph online, it was probably come from iA. I’ve disabled iCloud and use this in a more traditional “file-based” mode so I'm not tempted to clutter.
Ulysses - Anything I write that’s going to be kept for longer than a day. I’ve a huge, well organised library of notes, ideas, and half-written blog posts, comments for iOS Dev Weekly, and app ideas in here.
Xcode - For obvious reasons.
Atom - For anything related to web development. Mainly CSS, HTML, and Ruby.
BBEdit - Mainly for text processing or opening *really* large files. Amazing regex support and no app can open files like BBEdit can open files!
vim - When I’m working on a server.
I know that people are going to reply with “Have you tried …” and the answer is Yes, I’ve already tried it. I have a problem, I’ve tried them *all*.

I wrote this thread in iA Writer, according to the rules set out above

Oop! It's 7 editors, not 6... I use Google Docs for anything where I'm going to collaborate with someone else on text.
