As I lay here awake because my house has only dropped to 88 degrees, I think about a story I saw on the news 14 years ago. An elderly woman in Philadelphia couldn't afford to run her A/C and was found dead 3 days later after neighbors complained about a horrible smell.
Most of the year, I do just fine with no A/C. I open the windows, fog rolls in and I close the windows in the morning. The bay provides a natural A/C. But there's always a couple weeks where we're miserable because we have a heat wave. And usually a great way to escape is to go
To the movie theater, or go to a community pool. That's not a thing this year. I am uncomfortable. But I'll live. This would be much more difficult to deal with if I was older. And this is why global warming is an economic issue. As the world gets hotter, it will become more
Expensive to stay cool and harder to stay cool. If we do nothing, my house will probably be under water in 50 years because the ice caps are melting.
I don't know how to finish this thread. I lost my thought. I did have a point. We need a green new deal and you should care about
Other people. I will never fully understand the struggles of many people because I do have a lot of privilege, but I can certainly listen, learn and empathize. I feel like I got off topic. But that is something we should always do.
