/ Agree with the point that the opening of the NI parl in June 1922 was a significant date - some will have seen my longer discussion of this event on Michael Portillo's recent 'Hawks and Doves'. https://twitter.com/SJAMcBride/status/1294538959016669184
/ Print space did not allow for all my comments to be included here. Also expressed hope that composition of advisory panels would reflect gender and diversity.
/ Tenor of this piece suggests that Lord Bew and Dr Phoenix will be among advisors, which one would expect. But I hope they will be joined by others who have written on the history, politics etc of the period and on commemoration as distinct from history.
/ Sincerely hope there will be gender balance. Some of best work on commemoration in NI by Margaret O'Callaghan and Gillian McIntosh - latter's work on Ulster '71 of crucial importance in this regard.
/ also hope newer voices of @PeterLeary @cormacmoore @AdrianoGranto Okan Ozseker etc get an opportunity to be heard. Origins of NI, emergence of border is a vibrant area of research just now.
