when Koushuu said “if we go up in flames we go up together”, in the Japanese text he actually said the expression “shinaba morotomo” and by definition it means “when it’s time to die, (we die) together!” and it has a good meaning of “solidarity” and “doing our best together”.↓
in the context of act II chap 127 where he said that, Eijun’s pitchings quality went down, he made four ball, number 7 and 11 didn’t work, his fastballs got hit, and he made himself in a pinch and finally lost one run. then next, the batter order started again from the beginning.
not to mention it’s obvious that Eijun was strained with excessive sweat and that tired look on his eyes. probably after being told to lead the team by Kataoka, he felt the need to carry the responsibility and then overworked himself, that resulted in a low pitching performance+
starting from the second half.
but as Eijun has said before, a battery is “a pitcher and a catcher become one body and create a piece of art together”
Eijun shouldn’t fight alone and Okumura as the catcher also needed to do something to get them out of the pinch, by creating the+
best pitch together, not just Eijun alone.

therefore he said to Eijun to hold back the numbers and to win the fight by focusing his pitches around his fastballs, bcs as Miyuki has said that for now fastballs are Eijun’s best weapon.
and Koushuu ended his words by stating “if we die, we die together (shinaba morotomo). don’t worry, I won’t let you to die alone.”

aka a solidarity to persist together, not just alone, so that they can get out of the pinch situation.
they would create the best pitch together.
so Koushuu asked for number 4 or 4-seam fastball to the inside, an aggresive gamecalling that Eijun has gotten used to from his battery with Miyuki. a pitch that comes from his strong mentality. no matter how many times he falls or betrays expectations, he’ll come back stronger.
and they did it. they they took back Eijun’s confidence and his pitching rhythm, then managed to get the needed outs and avoid losing more runs.

Eijun said in the end “we came back alive!” and I’ve never seen Koushuu as happy as he looked in this panel (still not smiling tho).
in conclusion, Koushuu may sound exaggerating with the whole “dying and alive” thing (as Eijun commented himself “it’s heavy!”), but it shows not only abt Koushuu being Koushuu, but also how it “made sense” and not something out of nowhere. that’s why I love the scene so much.
as a bonus, chapter 127 was also titled 運命共同体 “unmei kyoudoutai”, meaning the people involved share the same destiny, whether it is a prosperity or a downfall.

Koushuu and Eijun fought together and they shared the same result as destined: they came back alive!!
*edit: not “a battery” but “a pitching”

thank you for reading my thread (if there’s any). analyzing and talking anout Sawamura-Okumura battery makes me happy☺️☺️☺️
*note: although shinaba morotomo are also used to mean bad things, like forcing other people to “die” together no matter what.
