okay so i'm going to objectively explain why writing 16 bars a day is impressive for rap practice. i'm going to use my stock knowledge on music theory and also get a bit of math involved and also bc i love rap

so contrary to popular belief, bars don't pertain to lines/verses but pertain to a measure in a musical sheet. 1 measure holds up to 12 beats depending on the time signature indicated in the sheet. as far as i know, in rap there are 4 beats in one "bar".

so we have 4 beats per bar so 16 bars multiplied by 4 beats, that's 64 beats. so we know a quarter note gets one beat therefore four quarter notes=four beats (filling the measure).

a review: there's a whole note (4 beats), half note (2 beats), quarter note (1 beat)+

eighth note (1/2 beat), and sixteenth note (1/4 beat). anyways depending on the time measure, it depends on which note gets 1 beat. so in this thread we'll use a four-four time signature which means the quarter note gets 1 beat and a measure has to be filled with four beats.

let's say the beats are equivalent to the number of syllables in a rap. so 1 quarter note=1 beat=1 syllable.
let's say the bar is occupied by ONLY sixteenth notes through and through (from bar 1 to bar 16).

the total of the sixteenth notes still equal to 4 beats but the no. of syllables are different. so there would be 16 syllables now per bar.

you'd need 16 sixteenth notes to get 4 beats. so that's 16 syllables. 16 syllables multiplied by 64 beats/bar.... that's 1024 syllables in 16 bars A DAY.

i just thought abt this last night trying to grasp how much 16 bars a day is.

ofc it's different every time bc it depends how many syllables u fit per bar as long as it stays in the four-beat count. so unless yoongi wrote 16 syllables for every four beats, then that's how he'd get 1024 syllables a day.
