AsAms are only allowed to complain about one strain of racism: when a White man in a MAGA hat says “go back to China”. This is the ONLY time liberals will show sympathy for us and condemn the racist. All other times, including racist murder, they will gaslight and silence us.

Understand that they only pretend to care about MAGA anti Asian racism because Trump is their rival. When MAGAs are racist towards us, they can use that story to juxtapose themselves against the uncouth, backwards rednecks. When our experiences aren’t useful to them, they dgaf.

This is part of a relentless gaslighting campaign that has created an extremely narrow Overton window in which Asian Americans can only complain about the one type of racism that they can use against their power rivals. All other types of racism are erased, inverted or ignored.

So when AsAms are racially abused, attacked or murdered by White liberals, POC and other non-MAGAs, the media establishment will go out of its way to not only ignore the news but actually invert victim-attacker and blame AsAms for being “complicit”, “the real racist” or “passive”

This is why AsAms are immediately labelled “right-wing” for pointing out that most anti Asian attacks have occurred in liberal cities. When we speak up about anti-Asian racism coming from African Americans, we are immediately silenced with false accusations of “anti-blackness”.

This is why Vincent Chin is a household name but Hyun Kim, Ki Suck Han, Vincent Tse, Yik Oi Huang, Dy Douangkeo, Tommy Le, Li Xi Wang and Fong Lee are not. Chin was murdered by the classic type of white racists allowed within our narrow Overton window.

The first four were murdered by Black men, three of which were fully acquitted and walked free. Dy’s killers haven’t been arrested. The remaining three were murdered by White cops, none of which were arrested or jailed.

Asians getting murdered by non-Whites is not useful for the white liberal narrative and so is pushed out of the Overton Window. Getting shot by police is “not supposed to be an Asian issue” so is also pushed out of the Overton window too.

This is why the general American public believes that “go back to China” is the peak racism we ever experience. Media gaslighting is so powerful that even many AsAms will parrot the lie that “Asians don’t have to worry about being lynched” or “Asians are never shot by police”.
