Always interested in re-upping older but great reads. There was some discourse yesterday and today on this but this Peter Beinart piece is always good. https://www.theguardian.com/news/2019/mar/07/debunking-myth-that-anti-zionism-is-antisemitic">https://www.theguardian.com/news/2019...
Obviously the agreement on whether antizionism is synonymous with antisemitism is disputed by Jews, especially those on the right are adamant about it being so and those more on the farther left disagree.
Itās important to remember that there are Zionists who absolutely are antisemites whether you want to admit it or not, for years there were leaders who supported Zionism for the sole reason of getting rid of Jews from their countries.
Others like Richard Spencer and a notable group Evangelical Christians support Zionism, Spencer being a white nationalist who hates Jews but likes Israel and calls himself a White Zionist. Evangelicals tend to hold very harmful views about Jews and their place within Israel.
Thereās also antisemitism on the antizionist side. Itās true. But if Zionists can be and also arenāt all antisemitic, itās fair to say that antizionists arenāt antisemitic by nature but some can be.
Beinart points out within data that in the US, the 65+ range has the one of the largest concentrations of antisemitism, but subsequently is also the most? pro Israel.
Gonna fight some antisemite who uses this thread to say some blatant antisemitism isnāt antisemitism. This thread may be unpopular with other Jews I know, but itās important to have these conversations so we stop labeling some Jews as self hating.
How Iām waiting for the people unwilling to respectfully discuss this and go straight to calling me self-hating.
Funny thing is Iām neither really Zionist or antizionist because you shouldnāt have to pick a side or some shit, I have views that I believe are fair and I donāt know if there really is a label for me.
