During the nazis and communist occupations the men were forced to the hills where they dug caves into mountains to save the men’s lives when the occupiers came through. When the current wave of occupiers looted pillaged and left the men could come back home to fix, farm, rebuild

They (occupiers) got smart to this and the mayor pushed my grandparents out and gave them papers that enabled them to get across Europe to Ellis island NY. Later family talked to other immigrants about where they came from..

.. the others laughed at my family members saying no one made it out of that city and that it was leveled.

The same town my grandma threw Molotov cocktails at nazi vehicles and her girlfriends would lure and kill nazis (before they hung in the town square) was leveled by the communist Russians.
