I took @SarabethUrech out to dinner last night

Like everyplace here, they have the obligatory

FACEMASKS REQUIRED TO ENTER

sign on their door

Which is absurd for a restaurant

So, as is our tradition, we ignored it and walked in

There was a line for the hostess stand

And several other couples waiting to be seated

Everyone in masks

Except for the patrons just a few feet away at their tables

Madness

Nobody said anything to us about it

But they obviously noticed

We put our name on the waitlist and sat on a bench in the lobby, and made small talk like nothing was out of the ordinary

There was a couple a few feet down on the bench

After a few minutes, the man spoke up

"I'm so sick of this mask shit"

And he took his mask off

His date followed suit

Nobody said anything

Next couple to enter the restaurant could see the four of us from outside

They didn't bother to mask up

Nobody said anything

Suddenly, it was OK to rebel a little bit

And remember what date night used to be like

It all started

Because two people decided to walk in without fear or sheepish obedience to an absurd rule

And show a few others that they are not alone

That's what you must do

Lead

Alone, at first, if you must

But be fearless

Not obnoxious

Just fearless

Others will follow

They WANT to follow

They WANT someone else to take the first step

And show them that it's OK

But someone has to step up

Someone has to knock over the first domino
