My mother and grandmother - and a koala friend - in Brisbane late 1945 or early 1946.
My grandmother Patricia - an Australian war bride - travelled to America with her young daughter (my mother Catherine) on the Mariposa, which transported hundreds of war brides in 1946 to America.
My mother and grandparents reunited after the war in America circa 1947.
My grandparents were brought together by war, but had a long & happy marriage. They were thrilled when Ben & I continued the “ANZUS marriage alliance” in 1996.
Sadly my grandfather George died before he got to meet any of his great grandchildren, but my grandmother Pat lived until 2015 - meeting all 4 of her great grandchildren and leaving behind a great legacy of love.
