WHY CANCER IS A GREAT THING [THREAD]

Yes, people suffer from cancer and other illnesses. I hope that nobody has to go through something like that. But what indicates that sicknesses are "great" ?

1) People can realise their mortality when they or their loved ones are diagnosed with a disease, which is great. So, they will focus on aspects of their life which really matter.

3) If you are sick, you remember the gift of health which is great. You become thankful for the health you had and hopefully will have again.

4) Sicknesses remind us of the fact that it isn't default to be healthy.

5) When sick, you realise that your Lord has ultimate power over you and every cell of your body.

6) Sicknesses make us realise that we are helpless servants of God who have no power before the will and power of Him.

7) When sick, you become very sincere in your prayers.

8) Sick people turn to God and they become suddenly fervent in their desire of their Lord.

9) Sicknesses humble us towards God.

10) Because of the greatness of the tribulation, one becomes more forgiving towards people who wronged one.

11) When sick, one learns to be patient.

12) Sick people actually can become happy because of the lessons they take from these difficult times. One grows with suffering.

13) You can become more empathetic towards people who suffer from similar/worse sicknesses.

14) Tribulations like cancer can prevent you from arrogance, evil, pride and tyranny.

15) If you are content with the decree of your Lord, you will earn good deeds and get rid of your sins in His eyes.

Remember: Much of this is only true, if you believe in:

A) God
B) a meaningful life
C) a hereafter
D) a religion that promises you all of this

If you don't have God and meaning in life etc., you won't be able to realise most of the wisdoms behind the tribulations in your life.

Your life will be meaningless.
Your suffering will be meaningless.
Your happiness will be meaningless.
Your death will have no meaning at all.

I feel more saddened for people without a real meaning in their life -even if they are apparenty happy, wealthy and healthy- than for believers who go through tribulations, diseases, pain and suffering.
