✨ how to save $$ on college books ✨

i want to share my tips on how i save money on textbooks. i hope this thread helps!
1. get a list of all the “ISBNs” of books that you will need to purchase for every class

this will be through your college’s bookstore!! (normally)
2. do you need the book?

sometimes people wait until the first day of class (to see the syllabus) to determine whether or not to buy it. but u can email professors for a copy of the syllabus early if you want! or just ask them if you need the book!
3. how about older editions?

most textbooks are pricey because they are typically the newest edition available. it never hurts to ask your professor if an older edition would work, they’ll be easier to find used (cheaper)!
4. where to look?

amazon and http://chegg.com  are great places to rent books from (free return shipping)! start there and compare prices to other websites like ebay or http://thriftbooks.com
5. i usually compare all of the sources i mentioned above to find the cheapest price and order them ASAP!

it will be easier to find older editions of books on ebay or from other sellers. but it don’t rule out your college’s bookstore if they rent used books!
6. sometimes you can’t get around a steep price

this is normally when the class needs an “access code” and they are typically $80+. u have to purchase them new and there’s really no way around that! so save what u can in other areas or change the class if u can
7. don’t rule out eBooks!

sometimes i prefer eBooks because they occasionally have a read aloud option! and if you’re walking around on campus they make your backpack much lighter!
i’ll add more to this thread if i think of anything else, but this is all for now ❤️
any of my mutuals can dm me if they have more questions on anything i’m happy to help anyone! these are just some things i wish i knew when i first started college 🥺❤️ good luck friends
