The well is poisoned. Theres news going around about Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender remake and it's wrong.
A lot of people are suddenly tweeting that the original showrunners left the project because netflix wanted to "age up" the characters. I tried looking it up. There has never been an official statement from DiMartino or Konietzko saying that.
They only cite "creative differences" as to why they left the project. The only source of the "grittier avatar" is a clickbait site and fandomwire that cited said clickbait site.
Despite this lack of confirmation, people are already making massive think pieces about Netflix, TV culture, and saying it's the "Game of Thrones" effect. So many quick judgements based on an UNFOUNDED premise.
There have been a couple of corrections posted but they have not garnered as much attention. I'll try adding to the corrections by tagging this thread #ATLA #NetflixAvatar #avatarthelegendofaang
This by itself isn't a big deal, but once again I'm reminded how easy it is to make so many people believe spread a wrong thing by appealing to their biases. People on twitter mock their old relatives for not being media literate and spreading fake news and yet here we are
