why you should include trigger warnings in your tweets: a thread
first of all, yes this is a repost. i want to be sure this gets on more peoples timelines, so im reposting this thread hoping it will get a bigger reach. im muting immediately. dm me with any questions.
what is a trigger warning?

a trigger warning is, well, a specific warning for someone who may be potentially sensitive to a topic/things relating said topic.
(from google) a statement at the start of a piece of writing, video, etc. alerting the reader or viewer to the fact that it contains potentially distressing material (often used to introduce a description of such content)
why is this important?

including a trigger warning in your tweets with potentially sensitive content will keep that tweet off of the timelines of those who wish not to see them. it can and likely will save someone from a panic attack, flashback, regressive 1/2
episode, dissociation, etc. 2/2
how NOT to put a trigger warning:

tw//trigger
tw// trigger
tw//tr*gger
tw// tr*gger

and any other form of censoring the word/connecting it to other text
why is this NOT the proper way to include a trigger warning?

asterisks or any other form of censoring the words will not be registered by twitter as the word itself, and therefore will show up on the timelines of people who have chosen to mute this word.

often, people who 1/2
are triggered by something, will mute that word to keep it off of their timeline. if the word is either censored or directly connected to any other letters or symbols, it will register as a different word, causing the muting system not to work as intended. 2/2
how to properly include a trigger warning:

trigger warning // trigger
tw // trigger

if its a list, space out the commas as follows:

trigger warning // trigger and other trigger
tw // trigger , other trigger
a list of potential triggers:
