There are few Lennon Walls around Hong Kong now. If you’re lucky, it gets torn down within hours. If you’re unlucky, the wall would be under police surveillance; pro-democracy shops censor themselves to avoid harassment.

Today, @appledaily_hk ad space is the new Lennon Wall.
12.5 pages of messages like these:

- “AppleDaily, made in HK.”
- “Press freedom today, academic freedom tomorrow! Support!”
- “Yeah, I have money. Thanks for letting me spend $3000 on this small box. Protect AppleDaily, protect press freedom.”
- “Look Ma! I’m on AppleDaily!”
My favourite is an acrostic poem 斜藏頭詩 with a hidden message: “Jimmy Lai, Agnes Chow are fearless.”

Love the use of 叢雀淵魚-driving birds & fishes to the woods and abyss; means people forced to leave their homeland in tyranny. (Translation mine, doesn’t do the poem justice.)
Other ads include a quote from @TimothyDSnyder’s On Tyranny, anon folks expressing “support Apple, Hong Kong, freedom, democracy”, and bible verses.

And @rachel_cheung1’s fave siu mai (ad) returns: “All our siu mais are made in HK” - taking a jab at Edward Yau the secessionist.
CY Leung must be fuming at this: “Little Leung, have you Jizzed today?” (“Have you drunk today” is a Yakult slogan) Leung has a mastubatory habit of posting list of AppleDaily advertisers to intimidate them.

Lingerie ad: “Money can buy a fitting bra, but not freedom of speech!”
The tiny classified ads section is going strong.
- “Freedom, priceless: Sorceress Office, seize your fate, astrology, tarot readings.”
- ”Thanks to the pandemic we’re closing. Free shelves. I freakin’ love HK.”
- “If you’re reading this, come back (*wordplay: reply me)- HKer.”
