They're not only removing the mail boxes, but the MAIL SORTING MACHINES.

I don't even know HOW we can react to/combat this, but this is frankly some of the scariest shit Trump has done yet, to me. https://twitter.com/_cingraham/status/1294344659385249792
I know most of us think paper mail isn't essential anymore, and maybe not for most in an age of electronic bill pay, etc. But think of how many packages you get some small business owners via priority mail.
Think of people who STILL need to receive physical checks.
Think of how many vulnerable people are about to be fcked bc they're missing court notices and/or paperwork they need to complete for already complicated social program requirements.
And he's doing all this shit to steal the election. In plain daylight.
I was on a conference call between an org I'm working with and the chair of the CBC earlier. She said if you ARE voting by mail, make sure you do it by October 15th. That may change with this development. Vote in September, I'd say.
Again, plain fcking sight. https://twitter.com/MonchyTales/status/1294397859895431175?s=20
It's also no accident that this is happening on a Friday. Friday is always the day you do some bullshit if you want it to go away quickly in the news cycle

People in other countries are often like “How are Americans not rioting?” meaning over EVERYTHING, all the time? And I think it’s a combination of things:
1. Some of the stuff this administration does is so crazy we’re just, stunned (like right now with USPS)
2. We’re a nation of immediacy, SORELY incapable of making decisions based on the long game. If the gov’t does something and it didn’t change YOUR life immeidately it’s whatever for most Americans.
(Which is also why the administrations just go back and forth dismantling and changing around what the previous, ad infinitum)
3. People still think someone will stop it. Like some alarm will go off, somebody will finally say “OMG DID YOU SEE THAT?!” ...
They think “checks and balances” will kick in.

We haven’t accepted yet that nobody’s gonna stop Trump.
This man first took little creeping steps into authoritarianism and is not just like “fuck it.”
He’s saying all the quiet parts out loud. No dog whistles, full sound decible and volume. And I think bc noone is cutting his feed, pulling him off stage, or something equal...
... folks are like “Must not be that serious”
Thing is, people have been saying the man is dangerous. Have absolutely been saying we’re well into constitutional crisis territory, have said the democratic experiment is offically on it’s way out.
This is how regime changes mostly happen: by steps that change the idea of normalcy, not by dramatic overthrows. The man is in office already.
Lastly and most importantly though, as we’re seeing with COVID response, Americans hate inconvenience. Going up against the government forreal as a people isn’t sexy. Nor is it quick. And that’s why we don’t do it. We figure somebody else will fix it.
