It& #39;s 5 o& #39;clock on a Friday, and so it begins... One author& #39;s foolish quest to concoct recipes for all of the fictional cocktails in her fantasy series.

This will almost certainly end poorly.

(a thread)
If you& #39;re wondering why I own so much eclectic alcohol, it& #39;s because my fiancé has recently gotten into mixology. And also because I just lugged a bag back from the liquor store that was 25lbs and 400 proof.
The fantasy series in question is THE SHADOW GAME series, a YA/crossover trilogy that takes place in the so-called "City of Sin."

There are 3 cocktails, each having 2 versions, one for the seedy part (North Side) and one for the bougie part (South Side).
First up, the Gambler& #39;s Ruin. The drink for when you& #39;re on a winning streak, a liquid tempt of fate.

(Note: the North Side is supposed to be gaudy and ostentatious. I did not intend this drink to taste good. The City of Sin canonically has terrible taste. But here goes!)
So... if I were a Sim, my mixology skill would barely grace a 2

According to the book, the drink contains bourbon and coffee liqueur. Also a cherry.

For some reason I really thought there were orange bitters but maybe I made that up? (Joke& #39;s on me. I made it all up.)
Ok... I take back what I said? This is delicious? Damn, I really did not expect Levi to have taste.

It looks massive but that& #39;s just the giganto ice cube.

My only question is if the ice is the right choice at all. SHOULD this drink be watered down? (It strong.)
I& #39;ll ponder this question as I sip. I& #39;m also going to give it another try, this time with less whiskey and more coffee liqueur, because my fiancé claimed it mostly just tasted like bourbon (vERY rude of him, I know)
