Self righteousness (vote shaming), esp. from white, middle class, loyal liberal voters is NOT an effective voter turnout and engagement strategy! And I'm tired.

Why Im upset? Bc while on ur perch dismissing validity of any concerns, you're making it harder for those of us who actually DO the work of engaging real marginalized, disenfranchised, disregarded, discouraged potential voters. Blk voters. Disabled voters. Undervalued voters.

These are voters who have legitimate concerns and grievances about the system &processes. They've been used, deceived & disappointed over&over again. They have reason to give up. It's a delicate balancing act 2affirm those frustrations, but still empower them 2participate

These folks deserve genuine & authentic engagement, action plans, solidarity 2upend the system but instead get vote shamed & villanized by the very folk who wont take time 2understand their perspective, consider their grievance, or reconcile realities behind their hesitation

I understand the urgency you feel now that Trupmism and fascism have reached your shores! I understand the importance of voting, even when it's frustrating. But Black and other marginalized voters have long had their urgency ignored. It affects how they view this cycle.

They've died in communities starved of resources, economic and political power. They've died waiting for either party to fundamentally change conditions so we could chance our own circumstances. They've held their nose time and time again. They've suffocated.

Some still show up and do harm reduction. Others have long since lost hope in a system designed to never work for them. They've asked you for solidarity and help to upend the system! That help never came.

I get the frustration and impatience trying to engage folks you feel don't have the same understanding of the system you have.
I also understand the frustration and annoyance of those who know you don't share the same understanding/perspective of the system as they do!

Engaging disenchanted voters is serious work and a serious commitment. It's frustrating, and tiring. Your posts screaming about how you won't tolerate any non voters, and how they have no excuse to not fall in line doesn't help...
It just leaves me with more work.
