This morning, a viewer called, asking why they haven’t seen coverage of the 5-year-old boy who was shot and killed. In her words, she said, “why is that no one is talking about the boy who was killed while playing outside when a thug like George Floyd make headlines everywhere?”
First off, girl. It is way too early for this 🥴

Second off, I took a deep breath and explained. The death was tragic and heartbreaking, but the black man who killed the boy is likely to serve a longer jail/prison sentence than the police officer who kneeled on Floyd’s neck.
Again, the death is heartbreaking and the man should not had kill the boy.

But, the two are not comparable. The bigger picture is that this brings up more of a systemic issue.

This may speak from some bias as a black man myself, but it’s simply facts as it has been reported.
Another thing: you’re obviously seeing these stories somewhere, right? Please do not come at me and ask why you’re not seeing coverage of a certain situation or event.

Branch out from watching cable news and reading national papers and read and watch local.

Long winded rant over, but seriously y’all. 👏🏾 MAKE 👏🏾 IT 👏🏾MAKE 👏🏾 SENSE.
