I still can’t get past this feeling that the post office gambit is so obvious and egregious it’s at least partially intended to take focus away from more even more nefarious suppression and interference operations afoot.
I mean, not to sound like a total conspiracy hound, but maybe it’s not that he thinks people won’t vote in person, but he needs them to vote in person, on touchscreen machines, in those districts where the final results were off just enough from the exit polls to push him over.
I mean if you had a perfectly good plan that relied on the usual Democratic neighborhood voter suppression with some sketchy machines in a few key precincts, an unexpected shift to vote by mail could screw it all up, right?
I don’t think we can afford to dismiss machine manipulation or other generally scoffed at scenarios out of hand anymore. Once a President shows he’s okay with mass death in his pursuit of re-election I think we have to expand our imagination on what he’d be willing to do.
