how to be respectful of south asians! an educational thread:

please do not say “hello” to us!! instead say “shahrukh khan” it means good day and blessings to you!!

when meeting our family members please call them “bhuddi aunty” or “bhuddi uncle” or just “bhuddi” as a sign of respect

a nice thing to say to an elderly person is “aap lagti ho jesay aap doh hazaar saal say zinda ho”

which means “you look very young”

telling someone they smell like curry is a compliment! we appreciate it a lot, it’s also nice when someone refers to our skin as chocolate coloured bc in south asian culture a white person wanting to vore you is a huge honor

in desi countries everyone drives a rickshaw or a donkey drawn caravan to save on gas, so if possible donate some donkey/horse feed to your token desi friend they will understand immediately and greatly appreciate it<3

some fancy gifts in our culture is considered receiving spices so if you are looking to impress your desi friend with your cultural sharpness send them some shan brand masala
