Imam Mawlud's Purification of the Heart mentions three levels of shukr (gratitude):
The first level is the person simply happy with the blessing of itself, but doesn't remember the Giver of it i.e. joy at a new car, job opportunity, a gift, etc. but thanking Allah for it doesn't cross their mind.
The second level is one who is happy with the blessing, and thanks Allah for it.

The third level is the one who is happy with the blessing only because they see it as a sign of Allah honoring them, not because of the blessing itself.
Imam Ghazali rahimullah mentions a sign of this highest level of thanks is that when they receive a blessing that causes them to forget Allah (example: we become distracted and miss our prayers), they become unhappy with it.
This jum'uah inshaAllah, we count the interminable blessings of Allah's decree in everything He wills and ask Him to clear our hearts of heedlessness.
