Ironically my road to Fat Acceptance was going through study after study on weightloss, in hope of finding the one diet that would save me.
And the more I read on the subject, the more I learned about the unlikeliness of sustainable weightloss.
It also taught me to read those studies very critically, and I learned about the red flags (playing with numbers of participants/drop outs, cut off points at non-longterm, significant meaning 2 or 5%)
I have put years of reading and closely studying this subject. I have seen a lot of shabby research, and some that looked promising, only to find out they'd messed with the numbers.
Needless to say, I did not find the One True Diet. Because it doesnt' exist. Diets are based on the revenue of a 60 billion dollar industry and are set up to make you fail.
Also, weightloss in itself does not lead to being healthier. If so, liposuction would be on top of the list, not dangerous stomach amputation.
Intentional weightloss does lead to a lot of (mental) health issues though, and disordered eating, because in 95% of the cases, the weight loss will not stay off, and cycling occurs.
So don't come at me assuming I know nothing about this stuff. I've lived and breathed weightloss. I lost over twenty years of my life over it. And I've certainly studied it more than any average doctor.
End of rant, I think... Not sure. And no, I'm not going to cite any research. If you're so smart that you think you know better, do your own work.
