36 hours since the A Level results were given out and I've witnessed a range of circumstances:
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“student with all 9s at GCSE but algorithm capped them at As. They're determined to sit exams in the autumn
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“ student who loved their A Level subjects, but capped by GCSE performance
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“ Gifted student predicted A* but capped at B as subject hadn't received a A* before at that school
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“student who worked socks off in last weeks, but evidence for CAG at the top was limited & very disappointed and not sure who to blame
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“ students who didn't get their highest CAG but reluctant to appeal as just want to go to uni and move on
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“ confusion as students told they may have to pay to sit the exam....
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“ good students devastated by U and E grades who are bewildered about what happened
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“lots of students who thankfully can get to the uni they wanted (phew)
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“students completely changing their uni or subject
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“teachers feeling like they have let a generation down
πŸ‘¨β€πŸŽ“government refusing to take effective action or put clear plans in place
This was not a normal year, and there is no point in pretending it was.
We have to get government to take action and give these students the grades they deserve. A whole generation have been let down.
