Gather 'round, children, and I shall tell you the story of how Norm came into our lives. https://twitter.com/kendraffe/status/1294045551147786240
Once upon a time, my friend Craig was walking to the grocery store and heard crying in the bushes behind a parking garage. It was a teeny, scrawny black kitten, all alone.

(I don't have a photo of this moment. This is Craig with a different cat. He is a good cat person.)
Being a good cat person, Craig said, "I'll go home and get my carrier, then bring him to the pet rescue." But he hadn't gone 50 feet when he heard a tremulous "MEOW?" and saw the teeny kitten following him home.

(It was August in Austin, so the temperature was about like this.)
Craig, being a good cat person, had two cats already and could not keep another one. Luckily, he had friends. And those friends... were suckers.

(Yes, despite my best efforts, that is my true hair color.)
And so this scrawny baby came to live at our house.
Happy Gotcha Day, Norm. We are so happy to have brought you into a life beyond your wildest dreams and, frankly, at times, your comprehension. But you are a very good sport and I never want anyone else to make biscuits on me. The end.
(p.s. this is a photo of Norm at his birthday party before the pandemic -- WHICH HE THOROUGHLY UNDERSTOOD AND APPRECIATED, BTW -- so please, no worries about masks!)
