(A wee thread) I keep getting asked whether I intend to seek selection to stand for the Scottish Parliamentary election next year.

For the avoidance of doubt, I won't be seeking selection.

I intend on completing my current term in full and there's more still to do for Dundee

Also, please also stop referring to standing as an MSP as a 'step up' or 'climbing the ladder'. Its neither.

Councillors make the decisions on everything from roads to community centres, parks to education, housing to major economic projects. IMHO councillors are the backbone.

A higher salary does not render something more important.

All politicians play important, albeit different roles, the 'bread and butter' issues are what councillors deal with on a daily basis.

Local politics should be seen as an equal and I hope more people stand for council.
