I'm all for this #GeneralStrike2020. I wanted to go on strike the day after Trump was elected. I wanted a general strike every month of the last 4 or 5 years. I want it to be as big as possible. I also want it to be laser focused to target those in power. Here are some ideas:
#MailStrike don't deliver mail to congress members, cabinet members, the postmaster general, or police departments. Let them know what they are allowing. Ending the postal service is unconstitutional.
#ProtestCongress while they are on vacation. Find where they live or vacation and protest there. Sure, march in the streets, but the pavement isn't hurting you. Politicians are.
#RentStrike to help tenants, prevent evictions, and keep people housed. Protest the major slumlord companies. Individual landlords are far outnumbered by these massive corporations.
#TeacherStrike organize your community to protect teachers, keep them fed and housed. Keep students home. Picket the schools to make sure no one enters.
#FoodRequisition because no edible food should be destroyed. If food can't be sold then it will be commandeered and distributed to the poor.
#ProtectUSPS if you see trucks in your area ripping mailboxes out of the ground, surround the truck, slash its tires, don't let it leave.
#PharmaStrike this should be pretty obvious. Protest pharmaceutical headquarters and CEOs.
#PrisonStrike we need to release all non-violent offenders. Prisoners should go on strike and stop working. Those outside the prisons do whatever possible to support them.
When we march in the streets, we show our numbers & make our voices heard. But are we doing enough to inconvenience those in power? We're screaming into the void & being ignored by the media. We're at war, or rather, those in power are at war w/ us. We need laser focused strategy
Yes, we are angry at the generalized state of the country. But our problems are specific; those causing the problems singled out issues and created tailor-made crises to exacerbate each problem. Think how much each cabinet member is suited to destroying their designated agencies.
When you're at war, you attack the enemy's munitions factories and railways. You don't waste your weaponry on non-strategic targets like a strip mall or an empty field. We keep saying we need to be organized but that seems to tend toward a top down hierarchy and 501(c)3 status.
That would mean the movement is killed in its crib. The only way we'll succeed in a revolution is if we think as specifically as our enemies. They developed customized attacks on every aspect of civil society. The antidote requires the same level of focus. Go to it, comrades!
