I have been a user of social media for over a decade now, and as such I’ve seen my fair share of bad faith arguments. (A thread)
But the recent attempt to make a 1:1 comparison between a sworn officer of the law who killed someone in broad daylight and took days to be arrested, and an evil civilian who senselessly murdered a child and was arrested and IMMEDIATELY charged and held w/o bond is next level.
I DEFY you to find a single BLM leader who supports or defends the murder of Cannon Hinnant. Everyone I know is shocked and disgusted by it. Every single person. And if I knew anybody who wasn’t I would cut them off immediately.
There’s nothing “controversial“ about this boy’s death. Every functioning human being knows it was wrong, senseless, cruel, reprehensible, unthinkable. No one objects to his murderer being arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
You ask where the outrage is? It’s everywhere. You ask for the coverage is? I’ve seen it on several major outlets. You ask where the protests are? What is there to protest? Sessoms has not been and will not be protected from the consequences of his heinous actions.
He will not be getting paid leave. He will not have a union protecting him. There is no system in place that will help him get acquitted or get off easy.
To compare these situations is completely ludicrous. And the fact that your anti-Blackness runs so deep that you would use the tragic death of a child to discredit a movement for racial equality and justice is nauseating. I genuinely feel ill. #RIPCannonHinnant
