All y& #39;all hip folks on Discord rather than Slack for classes, etc. can I ask why? They seem very similar on first glance but maybe I& #39;m missing a key difference or twenty. My grad class at least will likely avoid the uni& #39;s CMS so I& #39;m looking for a way to structure chat &c.
I& #39;ve heard both 1. students prefer Slack because they use it in their jobs, internships, etc. and 2. students prefer Discord because they& #39;re sick of Slack from their jobs, internships. Seems both could be true, depending on which students one asks
I think in some ways I& #39;ve avoided Discord precisely *because* I hear it& #39;s popular with students in other contexts. Feels a bit like the creepy treehouse, dropping into a platform students love for other reasons & trying to make it an official class thing—I may be overthinking
