Conclusion:

When spelled out like this, it really is atrocious the spending that's been going on at United in these last ten years when you look at the total revenue that it's drawn in. Now, of course, that can't be used totally as there are huge operating costs for United(...)
However, the clear lack of investment each and every Summer is a clear indication of owners that really are trying to operate on the lowest possible outgoings, enough to keep them challenging for 4th for that CL money and no real desire to kick on.
I will eventually get around to working out the wage change from all of the outgoings to incomings, it must be said though, that over the last 18 months, United have shifted some enormous wages off their books without actually replacing them.
While we do spend more than some teams, to really catch up to the elite, we need to spend way more and it needs to be in a much more focused approach. The time between 13-17 was so haphazard it set the club back 5 years. The same mistakes can't be made again.
