This is a map of shootings in Central Brooklyn in 2020. I represent a good chunk of this map.

Aproximatimely 100 shootings in my district. In half of my district, shootings are up 96%, in the other half, 117%.

I don’t have all the answers but I do have some questions:
Why are the top four precincts in shootings in Brooklyn?
Brooklyn is broken up into two Patrol Boroughs because of its size but as you can see in the graphic, the Bronx is second in shooting incidents. Why?
Most shootings are happening in the late evening or early morning. Why is that and what can we do about it?
They also appear to happen more on the weekends. Why and what can we do about that?
I don’t know the answers to all of these questions but I know that we have proven solutions that target resources. I wrote about it almost a month ago: https://twitter.com/zellnor4ny/status/1284474085737725952
So I’m asking everyone in this space to spend some time being solution-oriented about this public health crisis plaguing our communities. I’m willing to listen and talk to anyone coming with fact-based solutions.
