Owning a beauty supply is not easy, cheap or for the weak because it’s completely dominated by Koreans and really hard to negotiate terms that are even remotely close to the ones they have with other Koreans. Please support black owned beauty supplies. PLEASE.
Support good business above all else, but If the service is great and the selection may be slim or a little higher than the Korean spot, just work with them. Fuck with them.
The industry is so hush hush that most distributor info isn’t even easily googled. And before you do, and come trying to tell me what you found, I ran a beauty supply and worked in retail and upper management for Sally Beauty. I promise I know something.
There are certain keywords you need to know to even find the damn distributors names. And once you do, you gotta know what the fuck to expect. Because you’re opening MOQ will be substantially higher than your Korean competitors and you may need to re-strategize some shit.
Ladies, Theydies and Gentlemen! If you’re interested in Beauty Supply Vendors, learning more about what all you’ll need to have a foot in the right direction I’m quite generous in my guide on it. You can purchase it here: https://gum.co/lqmWZ
This guide was written with intent to provide what really needs to be given when seeking to build your inventory in a store. Here’s a sample:
A beauty supply done right requires so much initial capital. Typical retail start up costs PLUS build outs and a shit ton of inventory just to get black girls in the door because many of you DO just want to see full shelves even if it’s filled with bullshit. Lol it’s true
You damn near have to sue just to get terms that aren’t unreasonable. Or prove that they are discriminatory which is easy to do but people don’t do it.
