Since it’s Pakistan’s Independance Day today, here’s a thread of Coke Studio songs so we can all appreciate the quality of Pakistani music :

1. Afreen Afreen - possibly the greatest and most popular Coke Studio song to date. Rahat’s a legend and Momina Mustehsan’s voice is beautiful

2. Ranjish Hi Sahi - get used to the name ‘cause there’s going to be a lot of Ali Sethi in this thread lol

3. Tera Woh Pyar (Nawazishein Karam) - oh just a standard love song

4. Tajdar-e-Haram - a classic qawalli sang by one of Pakistan’s favourites, don’t think anyone likes Atif Aslam as much as @uzwudkan

5. Aaya Lariye - a wedding banger. Was in contention to be performed for International Day 2019 but sadly the captain (me) didn’t like the song, I can say that since then it has grown on me massively

6. Tinak Dhin - oh look Ali Sethi’s back, with 2 friends, a quality tune and a very questionable outfit

7. Baliye x Laung Gawacha - absolute tune, Quratulain Balouch is mad talented. I will NEVER get tired of @nadiabhatti_xo singing the words to this totally wrong.

8. Tu Kuja Man Kuja - I had no clue who these two donnies were but they’re great together. Also you know it’s a tune when the guys who sit on the floor and do the echo are in it. A favourite of @hummnagondal’s.

9. Sammi Meri Waar - Pakistan’s answer to Jason Momoa is Umair Jaswal. And he’s pretty damn good.

10. Aaqa - Abida Parveen is quite the legend, known as the Queen of Sufi Music. Also Ali Sethi again lmao. Also the echo mandem on the floor. Iconic.

11. O Re - This song is such a vibe, I love these brothers. Coke Studio needs more of Noori.

12. Latthay Di Chaadar - I’m told EVERY Pakistani aunty knows this song ‘cause they sing it at every dholki.

13. Khaki Banda - the meaning of this song is lost on me but it’s such a tune, Pakistani Jason Momoa back at it with this long-haired donny

14. Umran Langiyaan - Ali Sethi Coke Studio legend don’t @ me, Arif Lohar who??

15. Mundiya - that’s right back to back Ali Sethi, wavy vibe with QB

16. Gulon Main Rang - a classic Mehdi Hassan ghazal, performed by the one and only... Ali Sethi. @anamsaid2’s favourite Coke Studio performance.

17. Paar Chanaa De - a tragic and powerful love story told through 12 minutes of incredible song. Also my all time favourite Coke Studio performance. Noori at their best.
