Oasis trending has reminded me of a night in the 1990s when Liam Gallagher showed up at the press conference after Steve Collins beat Nigel Benn the first time and started asking questions, such as, "Do you want to be in our band?" much to the annoyance the late Sean Kilfeather.

Sean turned to me and said, "Who's that fella, Paul?" I said, "It's Liam Gallagher from Oasis." Sean said he'd never heard of them: "But I was in an oasis once in the Iraqi desert." Liam turned around and said, "Bollocks!" and Sean roared, "How dare you!" at him.

Fun times.

Liam Gallagher held his hands up and apologised to him like an absolute gent. He must have realised that Sean was the FOC of the NUJ.
