I’ve been chewing on the sabotage of the USPS (and frankly having moments of freak-out) but I think I’ve synthesized a few coherent thoughts about the election.
First we have to keep fighting like hell for the USPS, but I think we have to be prepared for a very different, riskier scenario. I think we’re going to have to rely on in-person voting. Local Dems, grassroots orgs, activists need work together to get folks PPE and masks.
We’ve got to get the information out about early voting dates and locations for all who are willing and able. There’s got to be a massive effort to share clear information about all of this.
Here’s the potential upside. 45 has proven to be a short-sighted, narrow thinker. It seems that he’s putting all his chips into stealing the election via sabotage of the mail and there’s a chance he isn’t counting on folks utilizing early voting to vote as safely as possible.
I think, parallel to the efforts to save the postal system, this needs to be the collective effort we engage in. It shouldn’t be this way but it is, so let’s get to work.
