Vox posted a comprehensive #COVID19 article that includes this map. It shows "R0" - the number of people infected by each person carrying #COVID19 .

When R0 <1 the virus gradually disappears.
But when R0 > 1 the number of infections grows rapidly.

I'm glad that I live in Illinois.

Although we have had some ups and downs, Illinois is doing pretty well at the moment.

It remains to be seen what happens when large numbers of educational facilities reopen for face-face education.

A good thing in Illinois is that we have free state-operated #covid19 test stations. Myself, my spouse, and my daughter all got #covid19 tests earlier this week. Fortunately all 3 of us tested negative.

These state-operated test facilities are all free to everyone.

Looking again at the Vox chart, I wonder if the extremely high R0 (or Rt) posted for South Dakota bears any relationship to Sturgis?

I should add that because I'm an engineer by trade, I pay lots of attention to numbers, statistics, and test results. They are helpful tools for understanding complex situations.
